I have just found out, much to my disappointment, that my z visa application was declined by the Foreign Expert Bureau in China. It is not my first visa and I have never had a problem before. I am not sure why it was rejected, but it may be because I left on sick leave a few months ago and my doctor's letter is dated from the time I took leave to the date I am supposed to return (this was required by my employer) In the meantime my visa had expired, which is why I had to reapply from scratch. HR said that perhaps the authorities may be unsure if I was able to work. They were asked to submit my leave form and doctor cert in their application. I was to return to the same employer.

I am very much fit for work now and was looking forward to returning. Does anyone have any advice? Would a doctor's certificate stating my current fitness for work be any use? Or will I just need to move on?

Sorry to hear of this.

If you are intent to return to China, I would certainly do your utmost to find out why this occurred before you took any course of action.

Try again perhaps at a different school in a different province and omit the sick leave letter the second time around.

What the hell do I know as usual? This immigration firm's excellent guide states;

"If a visa is refused, the officer need not explain why.[79] There is no appeal."

Since this is a renewal, aren't we really talking about your FEC here?
