My family and I are supposed to go get our permits renewed this morning, but last night an FAO person threw a strange question at me, "Did you ever go back to America and get your family member's birth certificate authenticated?" What an odd time to be asking a question like that.

So, I am madly now skimming the net trying to figure out if I am going to have a problem getting our permits renewed. I have found some stuff on line that suggests new requirements, but don't know how enforced that stuff is and if it even applies to renewal stuff.

Anyone run into this issue with renewals?

This was another requirement added in the 2013-2014 changes. If you focus your search more towards the expat business community, and the immigration firms that focus on China, will you find all the information you need.

It's simply being implemented this year on a more national basis. I thought they might be doing away with this one. It seems that a fair amount of family members are unable to fulfill this requirement, and has proven a factor in why business expats are fleeing China.
