Well, the ad is quite detailed and there are a couple dozen comments from teachers, so it all looks pretty legit and somewhat professional. They also have a website and a blog.
There is also a thread on the school already from a few years ago:

The main thing to think about is if you want to work full-time (8 to 4, 5 days a week) teaching 4 - 5 a day for less than $1000 month, with one holiday month paid about half and what looks like one and a half months unpaid in March - April (?). Basically, do you want to make and save money or have a kind of "working holiday"/cultural experience. If you're looking for the latter, then this looks like it can provide you with a "soft landing" and some support. |

Thanks for the replies, and the very helpful link above.
I've actually been speaking with Peter over email, and he seems like a great guy. Very helpful with all my questions.
Unfortunately at this time they only have one opening and my wife and I would like to teach together, so doesn't seem like an option right now, but I hope Peter does get back to us if the opportunity for the both of us does arise. |

It's all about the timing.
Looking for work right now is a fool's errand. The school year ends in 5 academic weeks (then you get 10 weeks off with no pay).
Be here in late April (looking for work right after Songkran) and the jobs are just there for the taking.
You should be able to land a school with 2 open positions that offers full 12 month contracts (paid annual vacation instead of dead time) along with your visa and work permit covered.

That's what we're aiming for, to be there mid april ish. But again, she wont have her degree until June, and if I understand correctly, wont be able to get a work visa.
I'm wondering if she can work on a tourist visa, wait for her degree to come, do a quick exit/re entry into thailand and apply for the work visa....but all this sounds like something we'd have to talk to our potential employers about once we're there.
As an aside, are there ANY countries in the world that offer teaching positions to candidates without a completed degree or certification? |

Without a degree or completed certification you might consider volunteering as an EFL Edutainer in the Land of Smiles... |

Feel free to ignore EFL Educator. His information is usually just wrong and he is NOT in SE Asia.
Until her degree is actually conferred there is NO option for legal work as an EFL teacher in East or SE Asia. Welcome to AEC implementation.
That said, there are more jobs than native speaker applicants so there are lots of opportunities for illegal work (working on a tourist visa).
The caveat is that working on a tourist visa IS illegal and there ARE risks (held in detention till adjudicated, fined and deported) if caught. The chances of being caught depend more on who you piss off than anything else.
Fly in and take your chances in April (there is a 100% chance of finding work) or wait until you can be legal in June or July (still lots of jobs - just not as many as there are in April).
