You can save money in Istanbul. You just need to be here a few years and know the schools which pay. Working for a k12 koleji allows you to save. Working for a language school doesnt!

Move!

In Izmir, people in the street meet your gaze and acknowledge your existence.

In Izmir, you can feel the lack of tension in the air.

In Izmir, you can get on a bus, go to Cesme and be on Chios in about 2 hours.

In Izmir, cars stop at traffic lights. (Generally)

Izmir hates Tayyip.

Istanbul is saturated with EFL teachers....competition for GOOD paying jobs is fierce...and accomodation is extremely expensive. It is overpopulated, noisy and heavily polluted with cars everywhere to be found. I have seen many EFL teachers end up homeless on the streets of Istanbul...only later to be thrown in jail and deported back to their countries of origin. Go to Izmir....enjoy earning some DECENT EFL wages....and enjoy life in Tyrkey!!! Shocked
