|
|
I finish my PGCE in June (secondary English) and am looking to take at least a year out from the UK to teach in China. I only have experience of working in English secondary schools - as a learning mentor and teacher, but did complete the CELTA a couple of years ago.
What's my best option likely to be in the land of Zhongguo? Obviously looking for best pay, and any other benefits like accommodation thrown in.
Xiexie in advance. |

Teaching what in English secondary schools?
Anyway with qualified teacher status you should be looking at international schools. I really wouldn't bother with something like English first or some such.
There are plenty of them in China both real and not so real. I'd look for vacancies both on this site and tes.co.uk. |

I think OP meant English the subject not language in secondary schools. So I'm guessing English lit. or lang., or a combination, depends on the PGCE.
But I second your advice for international schools. |

Yes, sorry - it's PGCE English, which is English literature and language (same as my BA degree). The thing is that I'll only have the PGCE and not QTS that comes with an additional year, so I doubt most international schools would employ me.
Anyone in the same position? |

Wouldn't it be better to do your NQT year in England? The tes has Chinese international schools advertising in it. |
