I have a second interview for WS and they do ask a for a lot of prep!
I'm concerned about getting a visa with a spent conviction and not speaking the language.
I also have interviews for Vietnam and Indonesia with different companies and a job offer in Paris. Im a UK citizen.
If anyone can tell me what to do that would be great because I have NO idea!
Thanks! |

Wow, where to start?
We need so much more information in order to provide any useful advice.
What are your own objectives in seeking a new teaching position? Building up your CV and gaining valuable experience? And to what end? Are you looking to maximising your income in order to pay off debts? Or are you more into experiencing new places / cultures?
And what of the offers from each of the places you mentioned? Have you considered not just the income but also the working hours? How about the working conditions and associated responsibilities?
And what about your lifestyle requirements? Need all the western comforts of home? How important is personal security to you?
I'm sure others will have other relevant questions as well. |

Thanks for your reply. Some interesting questions to consider with answers I don't have to all of them, time to start making some lists.
I was intrigued by the personal security question? |

I'm making some assumptions here but if I was a single female travelling overseas to a foreign posting I would want to know a bit more about the area in which I would be teaching. All large cities have dodgy areas, some more than others. How about accommodation? Would you be offered accommodation in which case would it be shared? Would you have to travel relatively long distances between work and home? Would some of that travel be at night time? And by what means? Etc etc. I'm not trying to scare you but I would want to know the answers to these questions and more if I were you. |

Not being British I have only a basic understanding of what a spent conviction is. But if it will show up on a submitted CBC, you will be denied.
The language is a non-issue for obtaining a visa.
This board has quite a few threads on Wall Street China for you to weigh the pros and cons. It seems that you are already worked with Wall Street in Paris according to another poster. I think what will strike you is that Wall Street may be a Western company, you will still find a more hierarchal management culture. Not always a good thing.
The visa hassle and expense, along with current taxations policies, make me of the opinion that China at present is a bad choice.
I rarely hear positive feedback about living in Indonesia.
I have heard mostly positive feedback about living in Vietnam.
Good luck! |

A spent conviction wouldn't show up on a basic disclosure, which is all you need for the visa, I think. |

Wall Street is adults teaching so you will only need a basic check and as the previous poster says, a spent conviction won't show up .It's 6 months for a minor conviction before it's spent and I think up to 7 years for major convictions. |

I don't think employers in China can get any more than a basic disclosure anyway. Only employers in the UK can apply for a standard or enhanced disclosure. |
