My employer deducted my MPF contribution during the second month of my employment (still probation month) - that is the month of MAY, but the deduction was made in June when salary is paid for the previous month.

The employer hadn't submitted my MPF form even though I had completed it back in March before I commenced work in April.

I questioned my employer about how come my MPF contribution had been deducted but my form hadn't been submitted to the HSBC MPF. He got very emotional and couldn't really answer the questions properly, he told me to just wait three months then HSBC would contact me. I smelt a rat.

Anyway, my Chinese friend asked questions of my employer too, so the employer submitted the form. My employer finally submitted my form and paid in my deducted contribution.

The I got a call from HSBC MPF telling me that because my visa employment permit is less than a certain number of months (13 mths) I am exempt from paying MPF. I told the person that my contract is for two years, that my visa is for half a year simply because of the expiry date of my passport. But no, no, no, she can't look at the whole context of the matter, she makes her decision based solely on the lenght of my visa.

So now no MPF contributions from me and no MPF contributions from my boss.

I told my boss that he should pay me back my MPF contribution but he didn't want to - it was like getting blood out of a stone.

Know your man-given rights.

Ask questions for the sake of clarification and understanding and when the boss accuses you of not trusting him, don't say that you do, just say that's not the question here, I'm after understanding and clarification.

I had a similar vias/passport dilema. All you need to do is go get a new passport and then you can get the full visa put in it by immigration.
