Anyone have experience with job fairs in the gulf?

My question: the TESOL Arabia website has a list of the ESL vacancies, and you can submit your resume to them, which I have done. What benefit would there be to going to the job fair in UAE in March (and paying the conference and job fair fees which total ca. $350)? Would applying in person tip the scales significantly in my favor? (Im 56 years old, MA Tefl, 10 years tertiary teaching experience. Now teaching in KSA.)

Thanks in advance.

I posted info about TACON on the Saudi forum: TESOL Arabia

You must be registered for both the conference and job fair to apply for positions; recruiters/hiring managers will be there for in-person interviews. That's the whole purpose of having the job fair.

Your age might be a factor depending on which countries you're targeting. So if you plan to attend the job fair, find out what the age limits are.

Many jobs are still hiring up to 58 years of age, and even 60....you're in Saudi, so just go for it! I've been to a couple of them. The recruiters are right there, and if interested in your CV they'll interview you there. That way you can get a better feel for the positions also. I think the fees have gone up. and there've not been as many "good" recruiters from what I've been told about the last few. But one never knows..right place, right time!
