Anyone have experience with job fairs in the gulf?
My question: the TESOL Arabia website has a list of the ESL vacancies, and you can submit your resume to them, which I have done. What benefit would there be to going to the job fair in UAE in March (and paying the conference and job fair fees which total ca. $350)? Would applying in person tip the scales significantly in my favor? (Im 56 years old, MA Tefl, 10 years tertiary teaching experience. Now teaching in KSA.)
Thanks in advance. |

I posted info about TACON on the Saudi forum: TESOL Arabia
You must be registered for both the conference and job fair to apply for positions; recruiters/hiring managers will be there for in-person interviews. That's the whole purpose of having the job fair.
Your age might be a factor depending on which countries you're targeting. So if you plan to attend the job fair, find out what the age limits are. |

Many jobs are still hiring up to 58 years of age, and even 60....you're in Saudi, so just go for it! I've been to a couple of them. The recruiters are right there, and if interested in your CV they'll interview you there. That way you can get a better feel for the positions also. I think the fees have gone up. and there've not been as many "good" recruiters from what I've been told about the last few. But one never knows..right place, right time! |
