|
|
I am close to an offer of a job in Taif and the client is calling me again in a few days. They said that there is a housing allowance of I think 3000SAR per month and a transport allowance of 1000. Does anyone know if you can rent on a monthly basis in Taif? I've found a website offering yearly rents @ 22000 SAR and emailed them to see if they take monthly rent but no response so far.
This is the site I found

Usually teachers with a monthly housing allowance live in furnished, serviced apartments, which are geared for short-term tenants. Besides, if you're a single male, you may find it difficult to rent an apartment in buildings designated for families or for specific Asian nationalities, and you'd likely end up having to buy furniture, appliances, bedding, etc. |

I see. Can you get a serviced apartment for 3000 Sar then? Or are they more expensive than that? |

You should be able to get something reasonable within that budget. Taif prices go up in summer when lots of Saudi families head there. |

Most teachers who receive a housing allowance live in a furnished apartment. Prices can vary but you can find a good place for 3,000 Riyals a month in Riyadh so I'm sure it's the same in taif or maybe cheaper,
You can also opt to live in an unfurnished place. It's cheaper but comes with some headache and running around.
If you don't mind sharing then find another teacher. You can easily find a two bed for 4k monthly.
ps: ignore Expedia etc. You will have to visit personally and have an Arabic speaker with you. Don't be shy to haggle. |

That's good to know. Those apartments sure are big! Can you rent them on a monthly basis rather than paying for the whole year? |

3000 a month and you're laughing in my opinion. You'll need an Arabic speaker, but you should be able to find a pay by the month apartment for that price no problems. Look for the neon lights outside and similarity to a brothel.
Once you're settled and happy to commit, have more of a look around. You'll easily find one floor of a villa or something similar within that budget. |
