I tried to search for an answer, but the search function on this site always seems wonky or counter-intuitive. So yeah.
So are there any schools in Vietnam that are both legit* and will legally** hire you before you come over?
I'd prefer HCMC.
*Legit = will pay and aren't fly-by-night.
**Legally = Honestly, I've been reading up about how the legal work process in Vietnam and it doesn't seem like it really happens and/or matters. Like a lot of countries, not much appears to be set in stone. For everyone saying you need to do X, Y, and Z there is someone saying it doesn't matter. But I'd like to do things legally in case things got hairy.
P.S. I couldn't fit the word "over" in my thread title due to the character limit. Let's say we keep our minds out of the gutters, yeah?

Oh my.
Get rid of "Are there" and "will" and it should fit. |

Some of the chain schools might be doing this. Why don't you peruse some teaching job ads, contact some schools and correspond with them directly? Networking with hiring managers is a much better way to get info.
The main thing though is that, unless they are paying for your flight(s), what's the advantage of being hired from overseas?
If you're paying for your flight over anyway, you can just set up an interview with them when you arrive along with any number of other schools and then make a rational decision after your have talked to them and seen the school in person. |

Most of the bigger schools hire from abroad at least to some degree. Honestly, the walk-ins are largely flops. Backpacker types who think wearing jeans and a t-shirt is a good idea for a job interview.
If a school can afford to hire from abroad and wait a few weeks after the applicant passes the interview for them to arrive in the country, then that school is probably already doing pretty well.
The best thing to do is once you've received a job offer, ask to be put into contact with some of the school's current teachers. Just be aware that if you ask for that, the school will probably ask for recommendation letters from previous employers or TEFL course teachers. |

ILA does. When I was there (2014-15), they reimbursed for the degree authentication process/visa/residence fee and for the flight. They are totally legit and hire you legally.
Good luck! |
