Hey guys,

Well I'll be moving to Tokyo in a little over a week. My original plan was to go for a Sakura House apartment for a month or two, but it appears that they have all been filled up (didn't anticipate this being a busy renting season). I realize that Sakura House gets mixed reviews, but it seems ideal for someone like myself (who has no furniture, and wants to just stay for a month or two).

Might anyone have any other recommendations? I'm not so into the shared house thing (with the shared bathroom/kitchen) though wouldn't totally dismiss it.

Cheers

Just check the main sites like Gaijinpot, Metropolis, Tokyonoticeboard for info.. The rental companies are all pretty similar in what they offer.

Cheers! I have sniffed around a bit, and found quite a few alternatives. Most of the decent options do seem to be booked up!

Man are there any places that don't try to jack you? Some places don't require key money/deposit, but then charge a ridiculous agency fee.

One place requested that I do a bank transfer from here in Matsumoto as well - in order to pay/hold on to an apartment. Not sure how common practice this is, but I feel some hesitation (naturally).

I always liked the Sendagaya Sakura House accommodation. Years ago, I did two separate stays there of several months each.

Great location, actually. Rents were high, though. At the time, the building was recently rennovated. Maybe a new property at the time for Sakura House. Internet connection was fast, too.

And the usual mix of odd balls that came and went.
