| I'm new to the field. I just graduated college and am looking to get into teaching English overseas. I've seen many job offers advertised on this site and other sites. However, I've never heard of most of the companies advertising. How can I be sure that a company is reputable before I sign on with them? I don't want to go overseas only to find myself trapped in a bad situation with a dishonest company. |

| Ask if you can speak to native English speaker teachers who currently work there. |

or even better: they worked there last year, but won't this coming year. Therefore won't feel any pressure to bend the truth.
Try to get at least 2 different perspectives if at all possible.
But nothing beats actually going to the school, and that's exactly what most of us can't do
Oh and google the school. Most of the time nothing comes up but you never know what you might dig up. |

Twill,
Do what I did and post a query here naming the company and asking for feedback. When I did that a few months ago about a company I had been offered a post with, I got enough info to make me realise I didn't want to work for them. (And the manager's reaction when I declined the offer convinced me even more.)
The workd is small enough now with the net. You should usually be able to find out info on a company if you need it. And don't forget the Job Information Journals.
