Hey All, I'm fairly new to TEFL and want to know if anyone has any experience living In Bengbu or has taught at Anhui University of Finance and Economics? If you don't mind sharing, let me know how your experience was here. It seems like a relatively nice area but any input would be appreciated! |

I have no experience personally, but I know a girl from Bengbu so if you have any questions about the city you can send me a PM. |

I lived for 2 years in Fengyang near BengBu, 20 mins drive away, Bengbu was the big city we went to for shopping, tho, in fairness ten years ago it was pretty crap. Went back there this CNY, (married to a local), these days it seems much better, but it is still way down the amenities list. There is a carrefour, and nowadays also some bars that it never had before but I did not visit so cannot attest to the quality. One claimed to be a steak house. One thing strongly in its favor is rail links, it is quite central, thus a good spot if you want to explore. The cost of living is low, but in that part of the world so are salaries. Nanjing, Shanghai and Hefei are close enough for a day trip or weekend by fast train, Hefei can be reached in an hour, it is is expanding and has a lot of fun these days (I own an apartment there) Nanjing is a great city, cosmopolitan food and drink and Shanghai, reachable in under 3 hours is - well, it's shanghai (I live there now) |
