Hi all,
I have recently graduated with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, however feel that i would like to attempt teaching English abroad. As i am a Muslim, i would really like to teach in Saudi Arabia. Would this be possible to do with a CELTA degree along with around a year of teaching experience here in the UK? I have also taught English at Kumon tutoring centre for 5 years during my degree.
Thanks for any help

Your best bet is to look at job postings for KSA and apply to those positions that match your qualifications.
By the way, the CELTA award is a certificate and not an academic degree. |

Probably one of the many Muslims in Britain desperate to go and live in Saudi Arabia. I would guess he is unaware of how he will be regarded and treated when he gets there. |

What? In the Motherland where equality is the hallmark amongst ALL the Faithful? You LIE!
BTW, scot, your capitalizations are off, it should read: "Probably one of the many muslims in Britain desperate to go..." |

why don't you try to come to ksa as an engineer.
I am have some friends who were engineers and acountats back home but now teach English here. they end up in 2 groups
1. happy with their decision
2. they feel trapped because once you work 3-4 years as an English teacher in ksa it's almost impossible to go back home as an engineer or whatever speciality they have |

The only engineering trolls engage in is bridge-building so they can lurk beneath.
Not much call for bridges in a river-free desert! |

The Kumon centre? Or the Come on centre? BTW muslims are treated worse than Westerners in KSA. |

according to the Irish Saudi embassy, your degree or diploma needs to be in the subject that you will be teaching or working in. So in Ireland, a music degree is not acceptable for a work visa apparently.
This was the email I received from the Saudi embassy in Ireland anyway. |

One would think the Saudis are racist, but it's actually more like they feel the need to respect Western countries and it's citizens as opposed to other people that enter Saudi Arabia under weaker circumstances. |

Saudis are not very keen on Muslims for Bradford who show up and tell them what True Islam is. Well how would you feel as an Anglican in Oxford if someone showed up from Papua New Guinea and told you how to practise the 39 Articles ? |
