Howdy folks -
I'm filling out an application for a foundational program teaching job at an old Saudi university on the west coast, and I'm not sure whether to fill in the expected salary blank.
I was offered a job by a NEW Saudi university last year and could simply input "no less than ..." what I was offered by them. My qualifications and experience for the job in question haven't changed much.
Does anybody know how this response is used by the recruiting team?
Ciao. |

Oh, I would never put "NO LESS THAN....". That's much too restrictive. You could find yourself out of a job offer because you were SAR150 too high. You wanna lose a job offer over SAR 150? Instead, write in "Approximately SAR......" That leaves it wide open on both ends by at least SAR1000 and likely much more. |

Good point. I went with "in the range of X to Y," as recommended in What Color is Your Parachute? |

Keep in mind, regardless of what amount you indicate, the employer will pay you what they consider you're worth anyway, and there's generally zero negotiation. |

My experience was that employers in KSA do not haggle. "Take it or leave it". |

I negotiated or if you like haggled. I got a positive result with my salary. Also haggled my rent and got a positive result. Though, appreciate sometimes you won't get the result you want. In both above cases when I haggled it was face to face. |
