Hi,
I know this is going to be different from school to school but would anyone be able to give an advice on how to handle this situation...
I plan on going out to Vietnam around October/November time after I have completed my TEFL to look for work.
As of now I have no idea how long I intend to stay out there, could be 3 months, could be a year depends how I take to it.
If I do decide to stay out there, there is one date that I need to come back to the UK for even if its just for a few days and that's my sisters wedding at the end of July. Would it be a good idea to bring this up at an interview or would that give off the wrong impression such as a lack of commitment?
If I face difficulty in getting the annual leave for those dates am I better off walking away from the job before that date and then returning to Vietnam? I guess if I was working from month to month on a 3 month visa this wouldn't be much of a problem, but then that would be under the table wouldn't it?
Thanks for any help,
Matt. |

Your sister is getting married, for crying out loud. Of course, you have to be there! I'd ask about it during the 'q & a' session at the end of the interview and, if I was the interviewer, I'd appreciate your honesty for being upfront about it. It's only for a few days and the school will have all the time in the world to organize cover. If that was a problem for them then, quite frankly, that's not a school I'd want to work for in the first place anyway.

Oh there's no question about me being there, obviously I will be. It's how I go about bringing it up. Thanks for a quick response! |
