Hey everyone,

Like some of you, I have been looking for a flights home. It has been very frustrating and time consuming. I have decided to add all the websites I have looked at for those of you who need the help! I got most of them from previous posters over the year, and added a few new ones! Hope it helps! If anyone has any new ones, please post them, might help out for next time.

Next time I need a ticket in the summer, I am not gonna wait until last minute!

I have used both the airlineconsolidator.com and travelhub.com and they were both solid operations.

It is always worth trying Chinese agencies. Yesterday I bought a ticket to fly from Beijing on the 11th July to London and back on the 19th for 7150RMB, though they are adding on 595 in tax. It's not the cheapest I have ever had but it's not bad at all - and it is on British Airways. The same agency once got me a return from Shanghai to LA for 4500RMB, though that was fairly soon after SARS.

Well, I'm sure you fellow Chinese Foreigners would on probably heard of the wonderful guanxi? The relationships thing. Well, it has now gone onto the www.

if you guys check out www.elong.net you will get some amazing prices on your flights. I went from Shanghai to London Heathrow for 2100 yuan. Now if anyone can beat that price, I wanna know...

Rather a late reply, but that looks pretty rock-bottom to me. The elong fare is roughly 50% of full fare Beijing-Chengdu and anything less than $400 (and your fare is quite a bit less) one-way from the States to China is just fine in my book.

In my search for a flight from the States to Shanghai, I noticed a bizarre phenomenon. Why are ticket prices for flights dating between now and the end of March almost half as much as flights in April and after? Even the last week of March is half as much as the first week of April...Any clues?
If I wait and buy in a month will April and May flights be the price of February and March?

Are you talking about www.elong.net ?
They have some very good deals but it's not always easy getting the dates you want.
Their domestic flights are very cheap as well.

Thanks a ton 'friendly'. www.gatewaylax.com saved me at least $200 on a flight from Frisco to Shanghai.

Apparently a lot of airlines consider certain months "peak" travel times and adjust prices during those times.
