Just to let everyone know. The initial costs for me for the three things needed for the visa where as follows:
Poliec check 25 GBP [40 usd] - The Scottish one online
Documents notarised stamped etc 161 pounds [250 usd]
Medical check [gulp] 395 + 10 mailing charge + 25 for not knowing my blood type + 20% VAT, came to about 500 total. I did mine around HArley Street in a private clinic which was great but expensive. He said the NHS refuses them and maybe 400 is the cheapest you'll get it.
So my total outlay so far is about 680 pounds, or 1000 USD BEFORE visa fees, flights, or first month aliving or renting.
It's getting expensive to do this malarky now. |

Wow, that's amazingly expensive. My police check was $20. My Medical Check (with the Blood test, EKG, and Chest X-ray) was $60. In Beijing I will take the test which will only cost $100. Mail shipping charge will be $60.
Visa will be $140. Flight ticket can just be one way (NOT ROUNDTRIP) since you're entering with a Z VISA. From Atlanta, there is flight costing $450. Resident permit will cost $130. All of this totals $900.
As for Accommodation, people can use Airbnb for the first month or two to avoid the massive startup cost. You can rent a room for $300 to 400 a month.
First month's living costs, can be $500.
Basically I estimate that $1500 to $2000 will be my total costs. |

Is that for a new visa?
I'm moving province, and I don't need to do a medical check in the UK. |

For the medical check-up, always try and see if your local GP will do it. The first time around I did it all for 45 quid through my GP, and the second time the same plus another 40 quid for an x-ray. |

I think the reason why people do a medical check up privately is because you have to have a HIV test don't you and it's not good having that test at your GP as it will be recorded and isn't good for insurance purposes even if it is negative. The private medical is a rip off though. Do you need a medical before you go to china then to get a Z visa? |
