Every sector is laying people off. It's over here for now. The HCT story is well-known but the oil field training cuts not as highly written about. The rumor is it's all being centralised in Abu Dhabi, so no matter what the Opco, the trainee will be a product of the same institute, which I reckon might be ATI.
These good Gulf jobs are going to be nearly impossible to find soon. |

| Yeah, things are changing in Al Ain as well. Contracts are getting shuffled around and departments are shrinking. Plenty of excitement to play out before the end of the year. I'm ready for a change though. |

If you're at UAEU, the English foundation year program is being phased out effective 2018 anyway. |

Not just UAEU in the dark. HCT is not speaking openly with their employees about which vendor will be delivering Foundations in place of the existing department and when that is planned to happen in each campus. For some, it's far easier to bury their heads and hope they have another 3 years of housing, schooling and the highest salary they'll ever earn teaching English. |

Has there been word of anyone at HCT/ZU/UAEU receiving a new 3 year contract? I heard that HCT only gave a one year to those who have finally been renewed... after the tortuous wait and threats.

ZU ABP people were renewed for three years with the verbal caveat that the programme might not survive that long. I don't know anyone in HCT Foundations English who got more than a one year extension (might be someone out there?), with the dangling carrot that next year, their equivalency would likely be approved and they would get a three year when it comes time to renew. Not sure about UAEU, though. |

| At this point, what would a 3-year contract at HCT mean? The most it would be worth, in reality, would be six-months (at the MOST), no? |

| I am just SO glad that I got out all those years ago. It could be tricky leaving now, but not impossible. However, the longer you leave it, the more difficult it will be. Time to make plans! |
