Anyone taken a bike as hold luggage while travelling? Any problems at check-in? Cool

I have done in Europe, London to Berlin on Lufthansa. Hardest bit was getting the bike to the airport - after that no probs. I had to check in a bit early and go to the "exceptional luggage" counter. Weight for weight it was a lot cheaper than excess baggage.

European airports are geared up for outsize sports equipment due to the annual skiing holiday trade. Whether the same applies in Asia Icouldn't say.

If it's a new bike, I think you have to pay duty at some point.
Check with the airline about how they want it packed.
