In my last job -in Hafr Al Batin at the Community College - I heard tell of teachers in the truly remote Arar and ever more remote Rafaa. I never did actually meet anyone who was teaching there. It must have been like my first experiences in Saudi, when I was teaching in Tabuk 1970/1972. Except when I was there things were peaceful.

Apparently, Al Khaleej are at Rafha and I know of one guy going up there for the first time this week.

I thought the 5 hour SAPTCO bus trip from Dammam to Hafr Al Batin was endurable. Not sure about that extra stretch to Arar or Rafha..

Scot47, you remind me of one of those first blokes who went up in space shuttles. I can just imagine the millenials today whining about a five hour bus journey WITH aircon and other creature comforts, but not you. You are like one who has been through the trenches, and come out the other side

But there are those who live all their lives comfortably, yet bored, and have no tales to tell. I'd wager you have a fair few tales to tell. Those who would consider you mad, or a nutter, probably have done no living themselves.
