RIYADH: The Ministry of Education’s requirements for employing new teachers are not much different from the previous version.
The requirements for employing new cadres stipulate that they should be intellectual minded with good behavioral record, present no security threat and be morally sound. The ministry also stressed that it will cancel the nomination and appointment of any teacher, male or female, who has a proven health impediment or presents a security threat.
The ministry said it will not appoint individuals with mental or psychological illnesses, drug abusers, people with diseases that cannot be cured in 60 days, such as malignant tumors (cancer), amputees whose movement is impaired, and people suffering from cirrhosis, tuberculosis, acute and chronic infections, and syphilis.
During the personal interviews, the ministry approved the appointment of dwarfs, burn victims, individuals who had accidents that do not hinder work, people with non-contagious skin diseases or suffering from disabilities that do not impede work, such as lameness or amputated lower limb/s, which does not impede writing. The ministry also said that submission of incorrect information regarding the physical ability of a person is subjected to punitive procedures.
It stressed the importance of health standards that must be met, including good eye sight and ability to distinguish colors, right blood pressure, healthy cardiovascular, nervous, digestive and all the other systems of the body. If an applicant is under treatment, he or she will be given a period of 60 days to get treated and recover, after which he/she will be given the opportunity to apply for a job again.
