There is an online position for doing language assessments with Pipplet. Clients answer 3 questions verbally and 3 in written format. Then the assessor listens to/reads them remotely and gives them an assessment on the European scale (A1, A2).
I applied and am going through the interview process and they asked 2 questions that I am unsure how to answer. Each question I listen to would range from 30 seconds to 1 minute. I would listen, or read their answer, give them a score and then move on to the next one.
They want to know how long I think it would take me to assess each question and what pay range I am looking for.
I hate when jobs ask these questions. It's like a test I never know the answers to! I don't want to give too short a time estimate and then set expectations that are too high. And I don't want to give too low an hourly rate and not get paid what I'm worth. Help!
I have a bachelors in Applied Linguistics and TESOL certificate with 6 months of teaching experience as a part of obtaining my TESOL.
Any advice would be great!! |

So do the task and then check your timings ... you have the answer to Q1.
Set what you think is a fair hourly rate and base the answer for Q2 accordingly.
The answer to Q2 will depend a lot on where you are. If you are working in Central America or SE Asia then your acceptable rate may be lower.
If you are in the UK or America then the rate you will accept is likely to be much higher.
If they hire you at your rate then great.
If they do not then move along to the next opportunity.
