Hi,

I have just joined the forum.

I am currently teaching English at a university in China. I've been here 18 months so am by no means an old hand, but if you have any questions feel free to ask.

For now, in short, I reckon, if you are into TEFL (or any teaching), whatever stage you are at in your career or in life, there is something for you in China.

Look forward to chatting with y'all.

I've been coming and going from China for well over a decade. I still don't understand what "face" is. Can you please explain it to me? Confused

What dos it mean when a lady says, "I'm a traditional Chinese girl"?

Pride, status, standing, dignity and dents thereto (rudeness, shame, insults, humiliation).

BTW: This is a jobs related forum.

Old fashioned, not modern. How you interpret that will depend on context.

You said 'if you have ANY questions feel free to ask, so they're asking.

Here's my question.

How come people are happy to put up with the pollution?
What is corruption and is there any in China?
Why do Chinese people immediately assume everything is them vs anyone not Chinese?
How come it is much easier as a white male to find a girl than the other way round [i.e. a Chinese male and a white foreign girl]
I looked at the LAND BORDER 9 dash line after WW2 and saw that China's border stopped at Qinghai and didn't go all the way into Tibet, what happened?
How comes so many things are poor quality?Well, almost everything you buy is?
Why do I hear 'Chinese is the most difficult language on earth?' when it's been proven both Japanese, Icelandic and Finnish are more difficult?

I'm still at a loss so I'll get back to you with more.

Wow, just wow.

I suppose there are histories and subtexts blocking a pretty innocuous OP that I'm better off not understanding...

1) My OP is to a forum clearly titled "Job-related posts only".
2) My OP only discusses the topic - employment.
3) The phrase "if you have any questions" clearly refers back to the preceding sentence (the forum topic). As does the subsequent sentence.

Any reasonable person can see what my invitation for.
