I just signed with a recruiter for a 1 year contract at a public middle/high school . If I stay there and decide to renew next year, is it possible to sign directly with the school without recruiter?

My view is that it really depends on the agreement between the school and the recruiter.
Scrutinize any paperwork you have signed with recruiter about exclusive rights to your services. If there is nothing, then when/if school ask if you are interested in re-signing, say 'yes' and politely enquire if negotiations will be direct?
As long as you get the same or improved conditions and and a SAFEA contract with you and the school as A and B, you should have no problem.
You don't want any situation whereby the agent can use you as leverage over the school.
Having said that, it would be an extremely short-sighted school to ruin a productive relationship. |

The recruiters who sign me up for jobs don't figure into contract renewal. There's nothing in it for them, so why would the recruiters be involved? |
