I spent years really enjoying and loving Turkey. So our return there this summer to take up work again was exciting... until the coup happened. Yes, as coups go, it was relatively minor and daily life for many people hasn't really changed... except for those thousands of academics who lost work, teaching licenses, and the right to movement. And for me, taking away the right to freedom of movement is a deal-breaker...
Anyway, complications in Turkey seem to be continuing with this latest rapprochement with Russia. https://www.rt.com/news/356380-turkey-russia-military-nato/
I'm worried that things there might get worse before they get better. Are others exercising the same caution as we are and taking a pass on Turkey for now? |
