In which Asian countries would an EFL teacher in his late 40s be least likely to experience age discrimination? I taught in Tokyo and know how it is there. Thanks! |

Maybe China or Hong Kong is better.
Japan is not easy.
I just work part-time now. |

I am also in my mid-40s and have been teaching in Japan for 10+ years. Just got a FT uni gig this year. I know a couple of ALTs who are in their 50s.
Not to say that other places don't discriminate. |

I didn't even start in EFL until my mid 40's.
I have never had an issue getting decent employment in Asia.
If you are looking at entry level jobs then blond haired, blue eyed 20-somethings are preferred.
If you actually have something other than a 20year old generic BA and an itch then there are plenty of opportunities BUT most of the decent work is found by who you know and who knows you. You won't find them on an internet EFL job board. Pick a country, land, do your first year and network ... your second year should be much better.
