Hello,

I've been lurking for some time, reading and discovering, thanks to everyone who has taken the time to share their experience. I am looking to teach English somewhere.

About me - 46, female, Canadian, native English speaker. I also speak French in case that matters - not great, but decent. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a Masters of Science Degree in Creativity (creative problem solving and innovation). I have a 100 TESOL course as well, and I am seriously considering doing the CELTA.

On my wish list are:
1) Good job/employer - companies/organizations to check out would be helpful
2) Warmer weather - many Canadians dream of warm weather year round
3) Walkable - I like to be able to walk to/from work and any where else I might need to go on a regular basis
4) Large enough that I would have an expat community to draw on
5) Reasonable safe for a single woman

So far I am considering Zhuhai, China; Queretaro, Mexico; and Vietnam as possibilities. Any place else I should consider?

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions - especially of cities or employers would be much appreciated.

Looks like China is popular. Any particular part of China or organization? If I remember correctly in China it's best to apply direct to the institution /organization.

For China and Korea you will be working with a recruiter (unless you have sufficient Mandarin to work through it yourself).

Visit the Mexico forum for opinions on Mexico, many posters there never wander into other parts of the forum. (Keep in mind that the Mexican peso has had a very very bad year--making it great for Canadians, unless you are trying to earn pesos!)
