I appreciate the patience and quick responses of some of the people on this board! I've been struggling to decide what the best certificate program is for me, and the people around here have been fantastic in answering the questions I've had about CELTA domestic vs. abroad, TEFL and TESOL programs and the like.

So far I'm pretty close to narrowing it down. I'm currently in the throes of deciding whether or not to do a CELTA program in Thailand or a four-week TESOL or TEFL program in China. I've done a little looking around for four-weekers already, and have a couple of questions.

First, one of the schools I've come up with is the Boland School in the Jiangsu province. Has anyone been through their program/heard about their TEFL program? Thumbs up/down?

Second and more generally, can anyone give me any reccomendations on good four-week TESOL or TEFL programs in China? I'm not too picky about location. I realize that I'm by no means going to be any kind of teaching expert from a simple four-week program, but I'd like to do as good a job as I can, and a solid framework will help contribute to that.

I believe naturegirl went through the program offered by The Boland School so you might send her a pm for specific questions. Not sure if she went through their program in China or another country though.

I've narrowed it down to the same two (CELTA and Boland) but I have a bit more time to make a decision. From what I've seen here, CELTA seems a more solid choice because it is more widely recognized and seems to be the industry standard.

The Boland program would be fine for China I know, but I'm not sure if it would go over as well in other countries. It's a tough choice for me because The Boland School would be about $1500 (USD) and includes accomodation, the CELTA is $1400 (USD) for just the course. I'm struggling to justify the financial side of the CELTA since I don't plan to do this long-term and will be teaching in China.

Hi, Yes, I did the Boland course in the Czech Republic and then worked for them for six months in China, but they had problems with the Chinese partner. Now they are in a new location and it's fine.
Anyways, I'm moving to Peru in two months and they said that the Boland course in fine.
Here's some more info about the boland course. They help a lot with job placements.
Try PMing Roger, I think he know about them too.
