Hi everyone!
I am an English/french/Spanish/economics teacher.What are the odds ill find a job teaching high school economics than only English in China?
I am Greek so non native
Any ideas/opinions/thoughts?

I used to teach Economics. There is good demand with the high school prep programs. Unless is is a very large program, you will be asked to also teach Business, IELTS etc.
A lot of these programs will place "fakers" in the position and tell them to just follow the book. It sort of has a sobering effect on demand, and hence wages.
There is of course the non-native speaker issue, but there is enough on the board about that already. |

A Greek passport isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either. Each school has an education license. This license specifies which subjects they can teach. You can get permission to work (an FEC) in one of these subjects. For native English speakers, they almost always sign us up as "English teacher" because the paperwork is easier. Unfortunately, Greek language is a bit of a long shot unless you're applying at a foreign language university. Economics might be possible. What did you study in university? That goes a long way to deciding whether or not you can be legal. |
