I am a chewing tobacco and snuff user and, back in the day, I used to bring rolls of it into Saudi.
However, I've heard that now there seems to be a crackdown on it. I may be going back to Saudi so I'd like to know if it would be OK to by a roll of Copenhagen or some Redman with me. Bahrain has banned importing it, too, from what I hear.
Do you know of any guys who bring snuff or chewing tobacco still? |

Chewing tobacco was in widespread use on Dhahran air base among the military cadets when I was there recently.
I was offered it on a regular basis, although I am not a user. |

Oh, I know about the local "Toombak". I was referring to bringing in American Scoal and Cope, though. |

Hi waltgomez,
As for the Toombak, if you go there or when you go there you can always look for the Sudanese community they're very nice, kind and cheerful people. They use it (mostly %75 of the population). When I was there I used it for sometime. They have certain places they can buy it from. Ahhh those days! |

"Tombakk Ajnabi" is the stuff you use in a hookah, shisha or narguileh. Are you planning to CHEW it ?

Thank you, guys,
I got the Sudanese already. Also, I just found out that chewing tobacco from the US can be sent thru APO no problem. |

If you managed to get your dip through customs OK, please let me know. I used to get snus sent from Sweden with DHL. Then about 3 years ago, it started get hung up on the Causeway, and I'd have to drive there and plead to get it released.
Then about 18 months ago, I checked with my man at DHL before ordering, and he told me not to bother because Customs were kicking all chewing tobacco back regardless. So I never tried again.if yours gets through I might give it another go.
Cheers. |

I think Saudis and also Bahrainis no longer allow smokeless tobacco in their countries. This seems to be the scoop. Some Americans seem to be able to bring it in or send it thru APO, and some seeps thru.
The local Sudanese stuff is available at some Sudanese restaurants in big cities such as Dammam- but is hush-hush- and also, Indians and other Subcontinentals sell very dry chewing tobacco straight on the streets because it is sold as smoked tobacco.
I guess one will just have to learn to make one's own snuff or be happy with the Indian/Sudanese stuff. |
