No shi* Sherlock... anyone with a few days of experience could've told them about the outcome.

An interesting read.

On a side note, in a Few years when the CoE contracts expire, they will all be made history.. The generous contracts were written during the oil boom. There is definitely no room for them in today's era of austerity and cuts.

I've asked about the future of the CoEs over here before and the majority of answers regarding the topic seem to favor the view that they are going to stay just as they are. The reason given by other people is that the Saudi government wants to tackle its dependence on oil.

I personally believe that these colleges will be abandoned (probably a handful will resist) due to money issues, bad administration and lack of staff (this one as a product of the strict and sometimes unrealistic criteria they use to select teachers as well as people running away). I guess time will tell...

Any operation like this can only function if it is subsidised. You end that support and it is dead.

Algonquin pulled out because they put the cart before the horse... They invested large sums of their COE loan into their engineering dept. but apparently thought getting the students through foundation would a breeze... Foreign providers who entered the KSA playing-field and didn't do their homework beforehand were bound to fail...

"He said some of the students, from hill tribes, were illiterate in their own language."

Well, I found your problem. Garbage in, garbage out. The idea is to get the cream of the crop. Wink
