Just curious about this part of Japan. What's the town of Nanao like and how big are Kanazawa and neighbouring Toyama? Are there any mountains to hike in the area and things to do? What's the Art scene like in meduim sized cities in Japan?

Thanks.

I don't know the town of Nanao.
Kanazawa & Toyama's populations are below 1 million,
maybe in the 500,000-800,000 range. Not absolutely sure.
Toyama is in what is called the Japanese Alps,so the
mountains are pretty huge.Lots of hiking available.
This whole area is called Hokuriku. The climate is typical
Nihonkai (Sea of Japan ) weather, meaning they get a ton of
snow in the winter & it's very wet and humid in the summer.
Toyama is famous for it's tulips and Kanazawa has many
historical sites.
That's about all I know.
Hope it helps. Cool
