JEDDAH — The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility will soon be set up at Riyadh and Jeddah airports to process US-bound passengers’ arrival documents before landing in the US. The facility will allow passengers to undertake all immigration, customs and agriculture inspections prior to their departure, a source told Okaz Arabic daily. Currently Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of only a handful of airports in the world that offers the CBP facility.
Having cleared CBP, passengers can check through their baggage to their final destination in the United States. On reaching the US, passengers will be treated as domestic arrivals, which allows faster processing at their arrival airport.
American passport holders go through the entry process which only takes 60 seconds before traveling to the US, Canada and 38 other countries which offer visa-free entry for American passport holders.
According to media reports, 615,478 passengers used the US pre-clearance facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in 2015.
