Maybe there has been a computer glitch, but that's the same post you made 30 mins ago.

She lives in Quito, definitely. She may possibly have been talking about the country in general and not Quito specifically.

I've been looking into Quito because she is there and it would be nice to know someone. I'm pretty determined to get out of the USA now that we've elected an idiot to be our leader. I taught in China for 11 years, leaving in July of 2014. A little more than 2 years back and I'm looking to get out again.

Well now's not the time to come to Ecuador, wait and see what happens after next year's elections first. When things settle, the work is in Quito and Guayaquil. It's very difficult (though not impossible) to earn a decent living elsewhere.

There's always language school work around in Quito, but to get the better jobs you need a reputation and connections, and they will get you further than anything else. However, qualifications and experience (in that order) open doors as well. Expect the first year to be a fairly hard slog while you prove yourself, things get better after that.

My niece said the same thing. She'll keep her eyes open for opportunities but agrees with you that waiting until after the election would be smart.

6 months ago I was completely unconcerned about the election, but the way things have gone globally recently I'm no longer counting any chickens. Sad

There's a few interesting things being advertised for January, but they are publicly funded one way or another, and I think it's too big a risk.

On top of everything else, there were another couple of fairly big quakes on the coast this week, and everything is already stretched to the limit trying to repair the damage from April. Difficult times.
