Has anyone ever been paid by a Saudi check and then deposited it in the USA and his/her deposit was credited. I don't mean a cashier's check in dollars, but a regular check drawn on Al Rajhi, etc. and in Saudi Riyals.
If so, what can you say about the procedure/outcome.
It should be negotiable as it is quite a big bank of a rich country. |

That's a British check drawn on a major international bank. How about a Saudi check? |

Yes, in 2010.
No problems.
I was given my year bonus etc in a check ( I think it was riyadh bank) when I was waiting for the exit visa in riyadh for the last several days after a year + working in KSA.
The check was for about $6,000 and I took it to my credit union back home the next day after I got back.
I don't remember everything about the situation, but I had to fill out like and extra form or two, they sent it to the main branch, who then as I recall sent it to the bank they contract with to handle overseas drafts.
It's not very unusual at all any more, but most the time things are moved electronically, so a piece of paper might arguably be more safe in a way, as there is a record of the transaction.
They told me it would take 30 days, but it was done in like under 2 weeks, I think in only like 7 days but I don't remember.
it cost maybe $50- $60, or something like that.
It was not a problem at all. |

Sorry, mate, it can't be.
It could, however, be a British cheque.

The most logical and sensible thing to do would be to contact the bank you are dealing with in your home country and ask them; to avoid any disappointments or difficulties.
If you have online banking set up you could send a message of inquiry and get the most accurate information from the bank where you are depositing the check.
Not all banks operate the same way, so best to get first hand information from the source. |

Definitely check with your bank back home... it may also matter which bank in Saudi it is.

Obviously you don't bring a Saudi check into your home country and expecting expect your bank to give you money for it. If nothing else what if the Saudis go bankrupt? Which is becoming eminent now. You should deposit it and wire it.. This is the standard procedure. |

The OP can't deposit any of his checks into a Saudi bank because he chose to work in KSA via a business visit visa, which makes him ineligible for a bank account. |

It was written on my small I-phone. I really don't care about the spelling mistake. Any misspelling changes nothing about the content or character of what I said. |

It is one of those errors that provides a chuckle...
Except for the fact that it isn't imminent... possible, but they still have lots of money and lots of oil. Things will stumble along for awhile.
Not to mention that your advice was useless for the poster who is unable to open a checking account.

2016 GDP Nominal (billions of $)
(1) United States 18,561.930
(20) Saudi Arabia 637.785
Yeah, I think they'll hold on for a while more... |

As we all have stated, ask your bank in the US. But if you don't have an account in the States, then...
Are you still working for this sponsor? If you can't cash any of the checks they give you, you're basically working for free. Why stay in that situation? |
