they are a huge chain, from what I know they tend to work people very hard and there is a lot of turnover at them. pay is also low given the hours you put in.
Not as bad as Disney English meaning you will be teaching adults instead of little kids, unless you like to teach little kids.
far better jobs in the public schools etc than at a training center, my advice would be keep looking |

The poster is a China veteran. I would assume he knows the deal on Wall Street. I would imagine that he wants to know about that particular center.
One would assume the same as all the rest, save for the one big factor, current center manager. I would never work in a Wall Street school with the feedback I have seen and heard about some of those managers. |

Pretty sure they are all corporate. If there are any franchises, I am sure they keep close control over them McDonalds style. They are able to really milk the Chinese for their services, so they do need to keep up their standards from the student end at least.
They have rarely raised salaries in a decade or so. Thirty one contact hours a week, spread out over 6 days, little vacation, rules galore, a good smattering of little Napoleons running amok for 18k a month before taxes and apartment?
To be fair they walk the walk with visas and pay, offer career advancement and the opportunity to hobnob with the Chinese elite. They also offer part-time contracts which allows one to branch out into other opportunities. |

Interesting. I interviewed with them twice. The first time I got dicked around for a starting location and time so I took another job. The second time I ended the interview as I found the center manager so negative I knew there was no way I would survive her. I always enjoy nixing a potential bad employer before they can do so to me.
All the talk I personally heard from them was that the China locations were corporate. You don't hear about center managers floating around and teachers being placed into different schools when hired by corporate.
I would think their franchising is in select other countries. It is nice to get the cash upfront, but I can't imagine that they would trust a Chinese businessperson to run it with any sense of integrity and for the good of the corporation. Then again I may be wrong. McDonalds recently decided to franchise in China. |
