The company I work for haven't paid me for two months. I get paid by cheque as I started two months ago but the teachers who also get paid by cheque had been paid. I spoke to the company but they keep saying 'you'll get paid, inshalla'. Today they asked me when I sent my passport as they couldnt find it. I think they may have lost it. I called the ministry of labour about the non payment but they said they cannot do anything until it has been three months. What do I do now? I have no money left and have had to resort to borrowing off many people. |

get the ball rolling by contacting the British embassy (I assume you are British by your "location" and spelling) and raising fears that your company has not returned your passport and is unclear as to its whereabouts. When you contact them, make sure you have the name of some higher-up who they can address a very strongly worded letter of warning to. That should resolve the passport location. They'll either suddenly find it and return it to you or actually declare it lost in which case you will have done the first thing in getting a new one.
This will communicate that you mean business with them and that this cannot go on. If you haven't been paid, why are you working? I would simply turn up at the company offices with a nice fat novel and calmly state that you'll remain there until you are paid. Don't get shirty. Just calmly state this plan to your supervisors at work and set about it. You've got nothing to lose because you aren't being paid anyway.
I had a friend who waited no fewer than 40 days for his iqama to be renewed. With a pregnant wife in Bahrain, this caused him some tension. For the last week, he didn't bother coming to work but camped out at the company offices insisting on seeing the CEO. It worked. Nothing was said at work about his absence at all because everyone, including management, sympathised with him. |

Ouch. Sorry to hear you're having an issue with this company. On your newbie thread, the majority of us recommended that you stay in the UK and get a PGCE to go with your chemistry degree instead of heading abroad to teach EFL in KSA with a sketchy company.
Anyway, if/when you get paid, think twice about remaining with this company. Plus, as a newbie, be aware you're still likely to only attract the interest of similar Saudi sponsors/employers. |

The main reason anyone comes here is to make and save money, so when they violate their agreement to pay you, think long and hard about resigning. All the previous suggestions are valid, If this situation is a pattern of mismanagement, you would be wise to end your service with this company at the end of the school year. Cut your losses if you have to and move on. It's not worth the added stress to remain in such a lousy set up. View the experience as a hard lesson and vow not to work for any such outfit again! |

I am sure this dumb comment will really help the OP in dealing with his situation. If you have nothing to say, don't say anything at all. Sigh..... |

If they havent given you iqama yet, just request the embassy to write to the president of the company a letter to repsond within 3 days to rerurn your passport to you, or else, let them know that you will be applying for a new passport. It is important to have a ID with you in the country. |

maybe they just locked him in a room and threw away the key.
Can't think of any other reason why he hasn't returned to at least thank us for responding ... particularly seeing as his situation is so desperate.
Maybe he has to pay for net access and has run out of cash |

Given that the first 90 days of an initial contract are probationary, it may be the company's plan to terminate your contract when that period is up. This could be why they've paid others but not you. It's unethical and has put you in a bad situation, but unfortunately, sketchiness is the norm for some of these companies.
It's been 10 days since you posted with this problem. Give an update if you can. |
