Can someone please bestow some much needed wisdom on me??
I need to know whether on not the Gram School Org is actually a reputable company or am I going to be another statistic that got yanked around by some recruiting company. The recruiter I'm dealing with says that they work closely with the gram school and a bunch of other chain schools. If anyone has any info, don't hesitate to type me. ... thanks.

From your other post here it is apparent that you don't have a degree which as you may already be aware is a minimum requirement for work as a foreign English teacher here in Taiwan. Any teaching work that you do here will need to be done illegally as you will not be able to get official approval to teach. If your agent is aware that you don't have a degree but is still offering to try to place you then I would suggest that yes indeed you are getting yanked around by a recruiter.
Gram school is reputable, but any recruiter that is willing to place you illegally and collect a fee for their work isn't. In fact I would doubt that any of the chain schools that your agent mentions they have good relationships with would hire you. Most people in your position have trouble finding work. Any work that you do find is going to be illegal, and more than likely any school that is willing to hire you illegally isn't really the sort of school that you want to work for.
The biggest complaint about Gram is the low pay, which is pretty symptomatic of many of the adult oriented buxibans.
Maybe you could try Thailand as it is my understanding that a degree is not required there! |
