I am currently in Saudi on a work visit visa. I loved the speed of it as it got me into Saudi and earning money quickly. However when I make my next move I would like an Iqama. But I don't want to go back to the UK and wait months for it all to get done.

So my question is which employer is best at this process. What I am looking for is an employer I can hand my passport and certificates to and they or their agents will get all the attestation etc etc done .Also they book and pay for all the medical tests so I just turn up have the x-rays etc and leave it all to the employer to sort out , and they have my passport returned to me when it is ready for travel purposes.

And of course which employer is quickest with all this?

Try your current sponsor. Otherwise, you'll have to leave and return like everyone else if you expect to change positions.

You forgot to ask about employers that will book your flight from your home of record to KSA at a mutually convenient time and either have a chauffer pick you up at home and drive you to the airport.....or who will reimburse you for your travel costs, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Reply: This kind of service is very rare now.....you have to go back to the late '70s or '80s when this kind of service was commonplace.

You can still get this service (or at least close to it) if you are on a military contract to teach ESL The knuckle-draggers want you on site ASAP and demand (and get) expedited service from the Saudis. They don't have time to mess around. Also, if you're a direct hire of ARAMCO and a couple of other private companies you'll get this kind of treatment (or, of course, if you're a foreign diplomat officially assigned to KSA in some capacity).

But even in the best of cases, it's not what it used to be.......at all,.....for anybody.....even embassy personnel. Basically it's because "bureaucracy" has ballooned to unmanageable levels so that things take forever and expediency gets lost in the maze.

When I first came to KSA (when passengers were forced to cover their airplane windows 1/2 hour before landing day or night) I was able to drive a car in KSA with my US driver's license...talk about efficiency. Even more amazing, I once received a letter addressed to me as : { MY NAME - Saudi Arabia} ....and guess what....I got it! Somewhat delayed, but still........

Well, you missed one or two:

---direct hire by your govt. (usually embassy personnel).....usually a career position.

---direct hire by employers of what used to be called Point 4 programs having to do with medicine, agriculture, education, commerce and so on. (Also once known as AID (Agency for International Development).........but I'm sure the designation has changed) (I assume they're still active). This can also come under the US govt. category above.

Also, when I say the "military", I don't necessarily mean the Armed Forces (that would also come under "govt")

What I mean is employers like Vinnell, Raytheon, the British outfits, and so on.....outfits that are quasi military (usually hiring retired military) and usually designated as "military" in common civilian parlance, but which are not actually (or legally) connected to the actual Armed Forces. (They're actually civilian corporations.)

----Wealthy and influential KSA citizens who hire English teachers who become part of the "household". (The most lucrative ESL positions in KSA...but you are considered "hired household help" in the same way Hellenic teachers were considered servants in the households of ancient wealthy Romans. Not for everyone.

Other than the above I've mentioned...it could take months before a regular ESL teacher could actually board a flight to the Kingdom. (But you could be very lucky and have everything done in a month of so).

you can forget that if you want anything with the word "quick" applied to it, particularly if you think the company name is an acronym.
