I would recommend that if your contract doesn't have a trial period that you write one in. one, two weeks, up to a month or so for you to see if you like the school and culture. And also for the school to see if it likes you. And if you don't agree with each other, that you can leave after the trial period without any consequences. |

who do u suggest should pay for the initial outlays ie ticket, visa costs and the like; assuming one of the parties isnt interested. its a tough one. i think thats the main reason that it most cases its not done. result ? teacher does a runner or employer finds any excuse to get the teacher fired. interesting idea, though it needs to be set out clearly who will be responsible for wat if the relationship goes pear-shasped. if there is to be no cost to the teacher, it may encourage some teachers to take advantage and use it as a type of holiday freebie. difficult one.

As a matter of fact, most Chinese public schools run you throug a probation period, mostly unbeknown to the new job holder. At the end of this period, student assessments will be taken into account. Of course, you won't know who of those students disliked you.
What consequences would you wish to avoid? You can only avoid paying a penalty. But the school will get away paying no prorated portion of your airfare anyway.
Usually, your tourist visa expires at the end of that trial period too - so the school loses not a penny, pardon me: Fen on your visa... |

You should pay the tickets, but after six months get money for a one way ticket. |
