Hey there expats, just returned back to China from a quick visit to PI. I just took a look at the condo my wife got us. Although it's not completed yet, I am starting to do the typical window shopping for furniture, appliances and stuff online from here in China. Does anyone know of any online Philippine retail/wholesale sources that might give me a birds-eye view of pricing and options of different things to buy?
Cheers,
Aaron |

Thanks Suphanburi, for the names. I'll take a look to see what they have to offer.

You mention marriage, if that is to a Filipina and has been recognized by the Philippines N.S.O. (National Statistics Office) then you can avail of BALIKBAYAN (homecomer) privileges.
There may be other rules that depend on your having an A.C.R. (Alien Certificate Of Registration) in the Philippines or not?
This means you can ship your "USED" (new) household crap back to the Philippines WITHOUT incurring duties (save for some specific items).
So it may be possible to buy more cheaply in China and store it for a while (check out that the Philippines may require receipts for unused items to prove length of ownership which is usually six months in the unlikely that event the shipment is opened for checking Note:Some people accomplish this by removing the original packing to prove that the goods are not for resale), and pay for break-bulk shipping door-to-door!
In China, you can probably avoid V.A.T. if you begin shipping out the goods within six months of purchase (a common tourist privilege in most countries).
Please check the current rules, there may be caveats if your length or type of Visa for China considers you sufficiently to qualify as a Philippine Balikbayan or not? |
