Hello forum,
Provided that I obtain a work visa to teach abroad, is it possible to do other part-time work (i.e. Teach evenings, bartender)? Or does your work visa or contract prohibit you from seeking side gigs?
Look forward to your response. |

Even if it were allowed, you wouldn't have much luck working as a bartender at a Chinese bar. You might be able to circumvent the law at a western bar, but you'd be working illegally unless the owners were permitted to hire you,
You'd need to speak Chinese to work at a Chinese bar (or any other Chinese establishment) and the bar would also need a permit to hire foreigners. Keep in mind that many schools prohibit outside work. Your boss may actually get you teaching jobs on the side, but this sort of thing is accomplished after you have been in China for awhile, especially if you have no prior teaching experience.
Concentrate upon the job you will be hired to do.
China is not the Land of Milk and Honey. You'll become painfully aware of this shortly after your arrival, so the sooner that you get a grip on the reality of living and working in China the better. |

Agree with Bud.
Put that first semester into the job that pays you and gets you your PR.
Then look for fixed location weekend work ie a Mom n Pop language school.
Commuting to student homes is all cost and unpaid time. |
