Hello Everyone,

I am a Canadian citizen living permanently in Japan. I am applying for a Z Work Visa and am not sure if I can submit a Criminal Background Check obtained through my local police department and then have it translated into Chinese, or if it has to be a check done by the RCMP.

Local rules vary. I would just follow what your employer tells you to do, if you already have a job, or make sure what the employer wants, if you are still applying. It seems that some places accept a translated criminal record check, of any type, and some places need something authenticated by the Chinese Embassy, in your country.
