I was wondering if these who work in public universities receive pay slips with their monthly salary? I assumed that all employers had to provide one but it seems that I was wrong as my current institution does not. Just curious!

Thanks

My university liaison does not know what a 'pay slip' is, even after drawing pictures and writing an example down. Getting these depends on how amenable the accounting staff are to printing them up for you. I do not believe that they are required to give them to you.

You could, as i did, request the tax payment receipts from them, which i do believe they must give you, if asked for them. This is just as good, as it will have your employee information, salary paid with the dates and tax deducted for each month. Make sure it has the red chop. This is also useful because you can make a comparison with the tax receipts from the local tax office.

Tell your FAO or the Bursar's office that you need a receipt for the deposit to your account as well as tax receipts. Without tax receipts, you'll have a difficult time exchanging currency and transferring your money out of the country.

I think many FAOs will just send you to the local tax bureau to collect your tax bill. It's actually a painless process, just bring your passport and your school's tax number. I was in and out in 10 minutes the last time. Once you have this tax bill you are sorted for the year when it comes to sending money overseas etc.

No payslips in five years. My last job, a private language school emailed a spreadsheet every month with salary and deductions for tax utilities etc, but that was it.
