Hey all-
I'm a licensed teacher from the US with 2 years experience in a public school/am looking to break into the International School market. My position here was cut back recently due to budget stuff, so I'm scrambling at the moment to put my plans into action.
I'm scheduled with an interview with the school in the header and am curious as to whether this school would be a decent place to work.
They offer a Z visa, unspecified housing and travel stipends, and haven't provided salary details. How much should someone with my qualifications expect, and what international schools should I be keeping my eye on?
Any help is appreciated! |

I'll PM you about one school I know that has a good rep.
The 'true' international schools will have a goodly number of expat students.
Some private schools include 'international' in their titles for marketing purposes. |

Hey,
I work in Beijing at an international school and have never heard of this school you mention. There are many decent, accredited schools in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. With 2 years of US experience, you should be able to get into a school, but it may be a bit competitive. Your best bet would be to get onto one of these sites that screens you and then you can apply directly online or go to one of their job fairs. In regards to salary, it varies greatly depending on the school and location. In Beijing, I'd say anywhere from 13,000-30,000 rmb. The lower end for less experience and qualifications.

www.schroleconnect.com
www.tieonline.com
Most of these are paid sites, but worthwhile to get onto. I'm on Schrole and TieOnline and they are invaluable, especially if you want to get into a decent paying international school. |
