This post kind of leads off my other post about a switch up in jobs.
I'm applying for a position at this "international school" as it will hopefully get me out the office and into the classroom more.
My other option is getting back to training and tutoring adults, which has its upsides and downsides, like any job.
Any word on the school, positive or negative? I can't seem to find much on the net.

PM if you're more comfortable with that.

I think you gave the wrong link. It directs me to a corporate / business type website, nothing about a school. |

I get a school website. At least the first page is for the international school. |

Ok, that link works.
The website gives very little details about the requirements/package, so not really sure if people here can advise on if it's a good/bad deal.
One thing I note is that on the 'qualifications' section it does mention a teaching licence - so presumably the salary should reflect that. I'd be looking for at least 20,000 a month in Hangzhou.
However, further down the same list it does say 'TESOL certification and a Master’s degree are preferred', so I'm really not sure what they want. |

I have loads of the right stuff - degree, CELTA, IELTS examining and tutoring under the belt, and 15 years relevant experience in Taiwan and China.
Let's see what is offered in the Skype interview.
Yes, I wouldn't bother moving to HZ for less than 20k/m ckear, preferably with housing, air fare, (real) medical insurance, decent amount of holiday time etc.
The job ad mentioned US$45-70k/yearly, so I'm not going to settle for less than their minimum offered.
Herewith:
"Elementary Classroom, Elementary English Language Learning Specialist, - Hangzhou, China
About This School
Wahaha International School located in Hangzhou, China, is a private, non-profit elementary and middle school dedicated to preparing Chinese national and expat students for an international future through a dual language immersion curriculum focused on inquiry-based learning. Our school serves students having varying levels of English language ability, from proficient English speakers to students needing ESOL support and instruction. The school is co-educational, boasts small class sizes, state-of-the-art facilities and a strong academic program rooted in Western educational best practices. Our inquiry-model curriculum is supported by a project based learning environment that drives students to take responsibility for their own learning and prepares them to be self-directed, independent learners. The campus is located in the Shangcheng District of Hangzhou and is also home to our sister school Wahaha Bilingual School (WBS)."

They'd definitely need to pay me US$45k/yearly to move back to young learners. |

How did it pan out then, man? Have you paved your way out of Shanghai? |

Got myself out the city, down to Yangshuo, for a 10 day break. It's pleasant, and cheap, down here. Lots of tourists though in downtown Yangshuo.
Haven't received a reply from the interviewer at the HZ school.
I'll stay on with this company for one more year if need be, to save money. I'll use my free computer time to blog and study. And plot my escape. |

As an aside, isn't 'Wahaha' the food/drink brand? The chubby kid, with the red clothes. |
