I am looking at a job posted for Wuyi University in Fujian province. I would be completely new to china and am wondering what working at Wuyi would be like.

I don't know anything about this university or the job, but I have been intrigued by the possibility of living there for a year. Visited Wuyi Mountain a few years ago and it was a really lovely rural area. What I do know is that this is a SMALL place and it's ISOLATED. They do have a very small regional airport, but by bus or train its hours and hours and hours away from anything. If living in a more rural area with all its unique challenges and rewards appeals to you, it might be worth a shot. If you're looking for western comforts and social life, not so much. |

Not sure when you were there, but they have a high-speed rail now so it's somewhat less isolated as you can get to Fuzhou in 1.5 hours.
Fuzhou isn't so awesome, though. |

Wuyi University seems to always be hiring. I contacted them a few years ago and asked to speak to one of their current teachers.
The guy that I talked to had only been there for a few weeks, was fairly young, and could not tell me much.
As others have mentioned it is rather isolated, and you would probably need to take the train to Fuzhou if you desired anything Western other than KFC. |
