Hi Everyone,
Is there a step-by-step English learning plan that works for everyone?
Someone I know might want to start a Khan Academy-like website, but only for learning English.
It would have videos, practice exercises, then a discussion with live people.
1. Does anyone have any opinion on the feasibility of this?
2. Any common concerns, etc. about a standard pathway? |

Not a chance. Everyone ranges from sponge-like preschoolers to completely illiterate senior citizens with no educational background whatsoever. I teach online through a variety of strategies but I've never found anything that universally works for everyone.
After all, I've had online students who needed instruction on how to turn the computer on. How do you intend to create some form of online instruction for them? I'm often on the phone with them for hours each week just on basic digital literacy skills. I imagine that your "everyone" can't possibly mean everyone. |

Thanks. I guess a lot of it is trial-and-error. |

It's more about who you are teaching and why they want to learn. Trial and error forever isn't going to get you (or anyone) to a one-size-fits-all goal. |

The only universal thing would be:
student effort is required. |
