So, I am moving to Shanghai for the next year. Previously, when I transferred my residence permit, it only took 4 weeks. Today my new company just told me there are some new rules taking effect in Shanghai in June and they don't know if it will be one or two months. They said they don't know the details yet (no surprise there), but will get back to me after the holiday. Not only is it extremely concerning to have my passport sit at the police station for 2 months for seriously no reason, but I have also already booked a trip for 3 weeks starting August 1st and there is no way I am willing to miss that at this point. I specifically booked it then to give the company long enough to process my documents. My current permit will expire on 7/20 and my current company will not give the release documents to my new company until 6/20 at the earliest. So, I want to know if anyone has any information about this new law? Is it really going to sit in there for 2 months? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
